While the little un was off at Brownies tonight, I thought I would get some practice in with the telescope and try and get some more shots of the 1/4 moon which had appeared overhead in the last couple of days.
These little links are some more videos (imaginative titles there Kirkby)
But My personal victory was getting a few shots of Jupiter, I don’t have a filter to cut out its brightness so its a bit of a blob.
Not much to look at is it? I think the little blobs above and slightly to the left are three of Jupiters moons. There are four large moons (of sixty three! greedy planet) which are pretty clear when you look through the scope but its hard to tell from the image if its these. The main problem in getting Jupiter on film is that its so hard to find in the scope when the webcam is in. It moves so damn fast you blink and its gone. The video below shows how fast it goes and how hard it is to keep tabs on.
Jupiter has been slowly getting lower and lower in the early evening and it wont be long before its gone from the night skies and I will have to wait a while before trying to find TMA-2 orbiting Jupiter.
