I’ve been compared to some odd things in my life. Mellor (after David Mellor), that dentist out of the hangover (thanks to Sarah and Dawn who both spotted that independently and making Amanda snigger through the whole film), very odd (yes imagine the shock that I was called ‘very odd’ and this is one of my favourites, as quoted from a friend of the daughter) but today was a new point on the random scale… I have been compared to a SCOTSMAN! (och aye and all that)I had my whole imacs life flash before my eyes tonight. I went down to the cellar and found it turned on and pumping out a display of c4d, firefox and finder. Basically c4d overrides the power save options so it doesn’t shut down when rendering out massive movies. I had put it to sleep last night but at some point it must have turned on (or simply not turned off properly) and I didn’t think much of it until i noticed the screen burn!
EEEEEP!
I ran a couple of things like jscreen to try and shift it but nothing happened. I was bricking it as it was so obvious against flat colours it was unreal and had a really nasty gut churning moment (imagine that vertigo effect that Hitchcock pulled off so well x100).
I found a forum with a couple of things to try and one said turn it off for half an hour or so and let it cool down as one post said the temperature affects the burn. The top of the mac was very hot so I shut it down then spent the next 30 minutes trying to concentrate on anything but the time. When I turned it back on the marks had faded and looking now its nearly gone. There’s a really really faint bit of banding and if that’s the worst i have to deal with then I’m happy enough to let it slide as you only notice it if you look really hard.
Still, its taught me to shut down c4d before putting anything into standby.

Maxon announces C4D v11.5 and i don’t have the cash to afford it due to buying a new laptop and a holiday in eurodisney… oh and the 360. If it wasn’t for bills to pay every month, my life would be much nicer.Snow Leopard arrive last night and its now settled in nicely. A huge chunk of space has been cleared thanks to it being installed. It was larger than the 6gig touted by Apple, but a few old PPC apps wont work without rosetta. Not a big deal in itself to be honest, it means i can now house clean with a good reason and the slow nag i had to format the HD can now be shelved for a few more years.
