I really can’t draw penguin feet

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

I’ve been in a funny mood the last few days. Unsettled would be the word and this has lead to me sketching a few bits in my notebook, on scraps of paper and, at one point, on the dinner plate with some brown sauce. I sketched this penguin at one point and I started to draw him in illustrator only to find I can’t get the feet right.

Two hours work and most of it was deleting the feet.

New 2d artwork

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

I’m taking a minor break from some 3d work to post a couple of 2d illustrations up to my picassa gallery. I’ve added the finished ‘Dead Zebra’s’ (two weeks in the making) and ‘ice cream scream’ (two nights in the making) to the pot. The site is here:

Now back to 3d or Smith will be round to harass me.

zebras with guitars

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

I’ve been exploring the murky world of different types of electric guitars this evening in an effort to come up with one for the logo. As this is an area I’ve never delved into before i got marginally disinterested pretty quickly and just picked the first one I saw. As a consequence, when it was copied it from the separate file and pasted it into the zebra one, the colours didn’t coordinate as well as I had planned. Hey ho… I’ve tweaked and this is where I am at so far.

Dead Zebras

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

This little sketch came about in the pool yesterday and I sketched it up in Photoshop quickly. Its for a (none existent) band called the dead zebras and i have an idea of how it would appear as a vector illustration. I’m basically doing this because I don’t want to finish typing up the @media notes.

The sketches around the edge show some of the mouth shapes I wanted and the head top right ended up looking more like a cow. I copied a photo of a zebra in to try and study the markings but ended up ignoring most of it :)

They call him Sir

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

As requested, I started to produce a short tutorial based around how I did my previous two posters and found a photo of the sucker person who requested the tutorial. I have started it and took many screen caps during the process and now face the job of writing up my notes. Not an easy job as I kept changing things heavily along the way.

Bah…

Anyway, here the finished poster, I will attempt to write up the tutorial at some point.
