Anyway, this time we settled down with our usual routine of pick one then hand the remote over to the next person. My choice this time included the likes of Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins and Beck which is pretty much what sits on my Ipod anyway.
Other peoples choices obviously never match up to my taste (I’m a musical snob, what can i say?) and there where hoots of derision when someone else (who shall remain nameless) picked the god awful version of Hallelujah by some woman who won an idiotic talentless contest. I spent most of the video comparing it to the Jeff Buckley version.
But the highlight comes when M gets to pick her tracks. She obviously doesn’t know too much about music (even though I’m trying to educate her and she does like Daft Punk) and her first choice was ‘Hash pipe’ by Weezer.
For the uninitiated, the video features a whole mob of Sumo guys fighting, singing, playing instruments etc… along with Weezer and I rolled this video out several weeks ago while trying to find Weezers classic ‘Keep fishin’ video staring the muppets. For some reason ‘Keep fishin’ has vanished (I suspect Virgins attempt to keep good music off its listings) so stuck for something to watchm I put ‘Hash pipe’ on only for her tiny mind to melt at the site of bloated fat men in nappies slapping each other. The highlight for her is a small part of the video with a close up on the rather spotty bum of one guy, which brings her down in fits of laughter and now whenever we watch music videos, out comes ‘Hash pipe’. Its a bloody good jobs shes not asked what a hash pipe is…
I wonder how she would take the video for ‘Windowlicker’ ?
