quick c4d test render

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

More texture work. More zbrush loving. More cowbell. More tiredness.

Using GoZ I dumped old bod here into c4d to do a quick test render of the material i’ve been painting and he’s coming along nicely.

The specular is far too high but then I should probably do a map for that as well. I think a tiny bit more work on the skin then onto the rest of the body.

Now in colour

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

I’m getting in the mood for the summer ‘super-family-special-holiday-funtime’ by clearing out some of my harddrive and playing with unfinished projects, so here is a little update of frogbear with a touch of colour. This is the start of a base coat for the skin and I have no idea what I am aiming for but its pretty fun to play with brushes paint tools, even if the damn thing keeps crashing… I’m not sure about the green at the moment and may go for a more browny tone but the sickly green does have a nice unearthly feel.

more zbrush gubbins

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I’ve not been able to do much in the way of 3d of late due to a load of 2d stuff being more interesting/important. That and cracking on with Fable 2 but i’ve managed to catch an hour on zbrush tonight and added some teeth to the frogbear.

I will try and refine the body next then onto texturing.

I have a vision of a small mass of these hopping around the pond in Christchurch park. Only a foot or two high they could explain the lack of ducks lately. Look for feathers.

zbrush tomfoolery pt2

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Didn’t get a chance to work on this yesterday and as i’m limited to time in the evening this is slow going but this is an update on the frogbear from subdivisionmodeling.com
I’m kicking myself for not including the teeth as part of the base model. I’ve just read part of a tutorial about how to mask of the mesh and sculpt the teeth but ya lives and lyrnes.

Zbrush Tomfoolery

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This is a WIP model based on a sketch by Glen Southern on the Subdivision forum called frogbear. the challenge is to model something based on his sketch and this proved to be a goo place to pickup zbrush and get on with some practice. I spent most of the weekend redoing the topology based on the zsphere body I blocked out and this quick render shows the stage I am up to after a few hours messing with it. I’m really pleased with it so far as it may be crude next to some zbrush stuff but it does represent several huge technical landmarks so far. Its like an xbox game, i should be getting achievement awards along the way. I was tempted to go back to c4d several times but its all down to practice, practice, practice…. and some booze to numb the pain :)
