quick c4d test render

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

More texture work. More zbrush loving. More cowbell. More tiredness.

Using GoZ I dumped old bod here into c4d to do a quick test render of the material i’ve been painting and he’s coming along nicely.

The specular is far too high but then I should probably do a map for that as well. I think a tiny bit more work on the skin then onto the rest of the body.

Full of cold. Ug.
The last week was spent keeping the little un amused over half term and one of the delights we partook in was shopping for an Alice in Wonderland costume for her school next week. They are all dressing up as characters from books and rather than join the masses of Harry Potter chars, she picked Alice (thank gawd for a well read child). We found a rather nice one and shes all set for Anyway, on the way back from work today, my mind stumbled across a thought, if i get a nice few photos of her, I can create a scene in 3D to drop her into. I spotted a zbrush mushroom tutorial in my RSS feed the other day, watched it this evening and then kicked off a basic shape to give me some motivation.

Not much to look at so far but I’ve been sketching out some ideas as well as digging into some research images.
This could be quite fun if i manage to get the elements together before next week when she dresses up for school and i’m putting old mech on ice while i do this one. Nothing new there then…

Last week also saw what could be my last visit to the broadcast show in London. Its been well over 10 years from my first jaunt down to the smoke to visit and its lost the appeal now. There was some nice gear like high def cameras which shoot 3d footage but after my recent career shift from video production to web design it has become a little less of an attraction to see gear like that. Three or four years ago I would have been over excited by them but i had an overwhelming sense of ‘meh’.

Anyone know a good dentist?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

I’ve started back on the servo skull and begun to do his teeth. I’ve blocked out the set with primatives and have started to form the front six. What has struck me is the state i left the mesh in. The skull itself is rather dense (much like my own) and the nurnies are not the best ever as well. Its been 2 years but i can’t have changed my habits that much, could I?

Some quick renders but minus the bigger textures:

Relight my fire

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Back on the 29th of November 2007 I scanned some paintings of a pair of Games Workshop characters into my mac and so began something of an epic project that is still going on.
Over December I seem to have collected some more reference pictures and started modeling in c4d. Over the next two years I have lost my job, got two new ones and even turned another down… In all that time i’ve tweaked, added and nibbled away at the files to add more and more details and I think its about time I finished the damn thing off yes?
I’m feeling flush from the success of the Bionic McKeendo project and my new interest in bodypaint means I may actually stand a chance of texturing the hard stuff.
I’m thinking of adding a new page here on the blog to chart my progress but knowing how well I did with the goblin one i’m thinking thats not going to happen. Speaking of him, theres another project which should be restarted.
Bah….
This should be good.
